PARAGUAY: THERE IS A NEED FOR A COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY TO STOP COVID

29/01/2021 By admin

The answer of Paraguayan population faced with the challenge of Covid 19 was admirable. On the one hand, the State closed its borders for several months and it was very understandable, because the neighbouring countries (Brazil and Argentine) are very populated and had many infections. (while we are writing this article they are respectively the third and the twelfth country in the world for number of infections).

Meanwhile, equal or more stringent measures have been taken, compared to those that many European countries had also taken.  In addition to the widespread use of masks, all the facilities had to adapt to the new provisions and the most impressive are the installation of sinks to wash your hands with water and soap, at the entrance of each room, a very big one as a shopping centre (like the well-known Shopping del Sol or the most recent Paseo La Galería), as well as in offices, in a public building, in a Bank, in a restaurant, also included any little shop in the district. Within the limits of its possibility, each facility made an effort to install one or more sinks in its reception or in the open air and all the facilities respect scrupulously all the provisions.

But, the measures in order to access inside any facility do not end here: once washed your hands, the doorman or the security guard will be responsible for both providing hand sanitizer and taking temperature with an infrared thermometer. (or specifically with a camera), before allowing access.

Another surprising measure we saw in Europe was that restaurants, included the most modest ones, serve disinfected dishes covered with a protective wrapping, so that they cannot be contamined until the time to consume them.

There is no doubt that Paraguay took very seriously the challenge of putting an end to pandemic.

PCR tests are frequent in the various professional fields

The requirements to enter Paraguay are equal to those of any European country (for which Living in Paraguay can offer all the necessary advice and they are very simple, once you know them).

The population seems to be very sensible about the responsibility of its social and political leaders, and proves to be very demanding and thinks it is rude not to comply with security measures, not to wear mask properly, not to wash hands and so on…

From paraguayan population till companies, Regional Governments and other Institutions, all have put into practice “one for all and all for one” and results can be seen:  % infections  less if compared with the area countries, also considering the variable for each 100.000 inhabitants and we can say with the data at hand, that today Paraguay is more secure than many European countries.
