The first low cost flight touched down on guaraní soil at the Silvio Pettirossi International Airport and so Paraguay turned into the first international destination, thanks to the Flybondi airline.
The Boeing 737-800 of Flybondi airline arrived at about 21.30 of the last December (2018), carrying more than 100 passengers, argentine authorities, press, influencers and public.
The opening ceremony could count on the presence of the Minister of Tourism Sofia Montel de Afara, of the manager of the National Board of Civil Aviation (Dinac) Edgar Alberto Melgarejo and of the President of the airline company Flybondi Julián Cook. There were also national authorities, managers of the tourism sector, press and special guests.
On this occasion, they announced that costs for the flight Buenos Aires- Asunción would be US 18 plus tax and would include an hand luggage up to 6 kg.
This flight will be available four times a week during summer and specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and the tickets can only be purchased online, on the site Flybondi.com
Julián Cook expressed his satisfaction for the choice of the city of Asunción as first international destination of the airline, because of the recognized potential of the Paraguayan market and considering the number of residents in Paraguay. “The first flight uploaded mostly citizens who came to spend their Year-End Holidays, but also Argentine tourists, who wanted to go shopping”, he said.
On his part, the manager of National Secretary of Tourism (Senatur) has highlighted that the arrival of Flybondi airline is in the agenda of National Government and that this fact will allow to join Paraguay to many markets, considering its importance for local tourism.
“Connection is a priority in order to continue showing all the attractions and images of our beautiful country”, he affirmed.
